I found Protex using google reviews. So I'm hoping that this review is helpful to others. I've used Massey, Pest Bear, etc. for lawn care services with very little luck. Protex excelled at the lawn care aspect. The lawn looked great and they had a customer that was satisfied with their services and would have continued for years to come. It wasn't until I hired them for irrigation services that things fell apart. Unprofessional interactions, not finishing the work they started (still have leaking spray bodies and spray heads that are a liability to sidewalk using individuals as a slipping hazard), not accepting responsibility for a improper assessment of my irrigation system and ultimately providing a 'fix' to a problem that did not exist, sending invoices to me before their work was complete, going out of their way to remind me how many times they visited my home to bolster their defensive stance as if I should have been grateful to them returning with the correct parts and adjusting the sprinklers to finish the project?, and finally taking a threatening stance to place a lien on my property when I offered to pay for parts/materials on the job but not labor (<$200 job). This company would have spent more money placing a lien on my property then just splitting the cost of the project with me and admitting some semblance of guilt that they provided a 'fix' for a problem that didn't exist. Very disappointing. Hoping others have better results! Update: I see that Protex provided their video documentation in response to my above review. This is not proper documentation and quite misleading. The available pressure in Video #1 (before) was about 10 psi (as measured by the homeowner using a 0-160 psi pressure gauge at the discharge side of the pump) before Protex's 'fix' was performed. This is well below the minimum 30 psi pressure that many manufacturers (Hunter, Rainbird, etc.) recommended to operate their nozzles/heads at. Video #2 (after) shows the zone operating at 35 psi (as measured by the homeowner) after the 'fix' was performed. The increase in available pressure was not a result of Protex's recommended fix (low pressure MP rotators). The increased available pressure was a result of the filter being removed on the discharge side of my pump that was robbing my system of available pressure at each head. Again, had a proper assessment included pressure readings and removing of a filter this would have been noted before we got to where we are. The fix that Protex recommended was NOT required and subsequently cost me more money to obtain the correct MP Rotator heads that do not spray my sidewalks unnecessarily with water. This is a classic cart before the horse situation. A 'fix' should not come before an understanding of the system and certainly not before you hire 'a pump expert' to explore why a 'fix' did not work. I have not seen these videos until this posting, nor did I provide consent to Protex in posting these videos of my property to YouTube.

Dear Scott, we’ve provided YouTube links below to the before and after videos of your system so people can see the true undeniable reality of the before and after in regards to your system. First, we found your system to have inadequate pressure. We then determined that you installed an off brand pump because it was the “cheap” option, as you put it. Not only is your pump a value brand pump, your well lead is 25% smaller than it needs to be, and your supply line to the field is also 25% smaller than it needs to be. We explained all of this to you in great detail, including friction loss, etc to try to help you understand just how bad your system was. We even paid (on our own dime) a well expert to come out and assess the situation and he confirmed all of our findings as well. He told you that he recommended installing a new system altogether as yours was inadequate all the way around. You declined this option citing the costs. We told you that when faced with low pressure systems, we always had the option of swapping the existing high pressure heads out with low pressure MP rotators. We decided to only do this with one zone so you can then decide on doing it system wide after you see the results. Ideally, you need to have a new system installed. Since that wasn’t an option with you because of costs as you put it, we tried to help by offering you a different option. This sadly became a “no good deed goes unpunished” scenario. The well expert actually told us to walk away and not touch the system because of the alarming conversations he had with you. Instead, we decided to try to help. Sadly, we all see how that worked out. It’s unfortunate that we have to document absolutely everything in this day and age because folks such as yourself will come on here and besmirch a firms reputation with false nonsense. Readers of this review, please view the YouTube videos below and decide for yourselves if the system pressure was better before or after the improvements were made. Thank you. My lawn and shrubs were in bad shape, and I needed a termite bond and a home pest control program. I asked my community for a referral and this one came in with glowing reviews. The owners are knowledgable, prompt, professional and willing to go the extra mile. Other companies gave me a phone quote, but PROTEX scheduled an appointment and came right out. They are in the ballpark of what I was paying to my previous company, but much more thorough and have great results. Any concerns are quickly addressed, which is very reassuring...I know how quickly I can loose my lawn and shrubs if issues are not taken care of in a timely manner. I am sure I will not have to worry anymore.

Dear Karin, we appreciate your kind review. Thank you so much for your trust and support. It means so much to know our lawn and pest control team exceeded your expectations from the very beginning.

I requested a quote online this past Sunday, and received an email confirmation that they would be out the next day. Fantastic! We need help getting some of the weed issues under control at our new house and we’re also interested in home pest control. Monday comes, and by midday there’s been zero communication from the company regarding when they would be out to provide a quote. I called and no one answered - it went straight to their recorded line. I tried again shortly after and the same thing - no response. I work from home, didn’t leave the house, and yet no one showed up at all on Monday. Or Tuesday. Or so far today. It’s now Wednesday and I finally received a quote, via email, from the company. But only after I called again this morning and left a voicemail inquiring as to the status of the quote. Their recommendation was sod replacement - which is understandable, however, the technician quite literally never came to our door or conversed with us, so I have no confirmation anyone actually came out to our house to conduct a quote. We also live in a gated neighborhood, of which I never provided the access code to, so I find it interesting that the “quote” was performed without my knowledge or assistance. It’s quite possible they looked up the address on Google and found the old house listing, which included extensive pictures of the yard. I honestly have no way of knowing. There was zero communication from this company and I’m extremely disappointed due to all of the wonderful reviews. We were not expecting miracles since we live in a rural area, but we never even given the opportunity to discuss anything, with anyone, regarding what we were looking to realistically achieve. If you’re okay with zero communication and being written off, then I guess this company is the way to go. 🤷♀️

With all due respect, we disagree with this negative review. When we got the email request for an estimate, it was on a Sunday, which we are closed. We immediately got the request on the calendar the very next day, and emailed the homeowner early morning prior to us opening to let her know we would be coming. We also requested a gate code and received no response. However, we went ahead with the estimate, as we wanted to accommodate as soon as possible. We had no trouble with gate access and came by the house around 3:15 pm and there were 2 cars in the driveway, however no one came to the door when we rang the bell. The technician walked the property, in which we obtained specific notes about the property to add into the estimate notes. Time stamp completed at 3:25 pm. We did miss each others calls the next day, however we did respond back via email about the notes sent stating turf had to be replaced as there was no viable turf to be treated. There is no way we could know the turf needed to be replaced via satellite, as we even gave specifics about the various cultural weeds in the estimate notes. We asked the resident to let us know when would be a good time to call and we could chat further about sod replacement, shrubs, pest control services etc. but we never received any further corespondents from the resident. We are a very experienced and professional company and for this homeowner to speak poorly of us and portray us as something else is very disheartening. We would never say we did something, when it really wasn’t done. This is an obvious case of perception is not always reality.
