I started working with WD Yards about 6 months ago and have had a great experience and look forward to more! Their team has been responsive, professional and gone above and beyond to answer any and all questions I’ve had. I look forward to seeing their hard work to continue to pay off with our landscaping. Would highly recommend to anyone!

      Response from the owner

High praise Brady! Thank you for taking the time to post a review. A positive customer experience is our goal and we appreciate the opportunity to work with you. Thank you again for the kind words!

Four years ago I purchased and planted 16 Winter Gem Boxwood shrubs along my fence line ($1,200 worth of shrubs). They have been vibrant and healthy until early this spring when I had WD Yards spray the weeds in my gravel driveway. A couple of weeks after WD Yards sprayed my weeds, I noticed that many of the leaves on my boxwood shrubs were not changing from golden in color to green in color like they always do in the spring. They never shed leaves, leaves change from green to gold during the winter months. Upon further inspection, I discovered the leaves on the boxwoods were dead. Four of my 16 plants were almost completely dead. The rest just had sporadic dead spots throughout the plant which leads me to believe they got sprayed with something. I took samples to the CSU extension office and had a master gardener confirm they had been damaged by herbicide spray. When I called WD Yards, they were not quick to respond. They actually ignored me until I called a second time, then they sent someone out to my house who just showed up without calling who was quite rude and obnoxious. He claimed to be a master gardener himself and said he disagreed with the CSU extension office observation. He couldn't tell my what may have caused the problem with my boxwoods, just denied having any responsibility and refused to compensate me in any way. I would not recommend using WD Yards for any of your lawn maintenance needs. They charged me $118 to kill my shrubs.. These boxwoods have been watered once a week during the summer moths and once a month during the winter months since they were planted. Mesa County has not been on water rations yet and we still get plenty of water so I really don't think there is a problem with the drought! I do think there is a problem with taking responsibility. I still wouldn't recommend WD Yards to anyone.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for your feedback, Laney. We apologize you did not receive the diagnosis you were expecting and understand your frustration of seeing your beloved shrubs not revive this spring. Our Operations Manager is the gentlemen who performed your assessment after our herbicide application in mid-April. He is a Master Gardner (also having spent time volunteering at the CSU Extension office) and a licensed Arborist as well as a Qualified Supervisor and Certified Operator Commercial Applicator with the Colorado Department of Agriculture. Herbicides are his specialty which is partly why he is such a valuable member of our staff. During his inspection he did not see the classic shepherd’s crook damage typical of a group four synthetic auxin. Our Grand Valley climate is dry and our last two winters have been particularly harsh on plant life. Thank you, again, for reaching out and for your review.

I asked the arborist at WD Yards to send a tech to water the six trees in my yard because we have had so little precipitation. I wasn't there to watch the two techs who carried out Will's orders. I came home late in the evening and found they had left both gates to my backyard wide open. I was upset by that carelessness because open gates invite strangers to wander in off the bicycle path and invade my backyard which is private and for invitees only! I just hope my trees will flourish in the spring as a result of this extra winter watering.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for letting us know Clare. Shut gates is a very big priority to us and we will absolutely address this with our technicians. Your feedback is valuable so please feel free to call us right away if you ever have questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing your trees flourish in the spring as well.
