  We had hired for a large tile shower and a large, basic deck pre-COVID this year. Supplies were delivered for the deck, but was markedly short on building materials and under-engineered according to the contractor we hired (and two others we consulted) after we parted ways with TPA. Shower project, we were promised he could handle it even though he no longer had a "tile guy," but that was definitely not correct. Tile was severely uneven, wrong materials used (we had a professional steam shower installer come take a look and re-do the entire thing) and we would have been in a world of trouble had we let them continue their job. Thankfully, it was cosmetically awful and we parted ways pretty early on. Lost a significant amount of money in labor and lost the supplies that we provided for the project. After talking with multiple contractors after the fact, we were being overcharged, and the product was being under-delivered on both projects.
