I hired the Giving Tree in the spring of 2021 to do weed control and fertilizing. I didn't want any extra services. My lawn looked worse and worse as the summer went on. Then they charged me for grub control, an extra and expensive service. When I took a hard look at my yard, I realized the lawn looked really terrible. The crab grass was thriving and taking over. When I called the Giving Tree to express my concern about the crab grass and the grub control treatment that I never ordered, I was told that the owner was away and unavailable to talk to me. When he finally got back to work, he called to say he would come over on Friday 9/3 to check out the lawn. He didn't show and didn't call. I finally called to cancel the service. Now the office help is telling me that he won't be coming over because I canceled my account!! He won't call me or communicate with me but has the young women in the office do his dirty work. Save yourself the aggravation and use another lawn care company. This company simply doesn't care. WORST customer service ever!!

The Giving Tree has been servicing my lawn for the past 6 years or so and are great. Their prices are in line with the other places and I’d much rather deal with a locally owned business then one of big chain lawn care places. You can also pay up front for the year and save some money that way as well.

I have never given a bad review for a buisness to start. Here is my story of the Giving Tree . I purchased my home in September 2018, the front lard is fairly large and sits in a cul-de-sac, with minimal shade.. When I moved,  in I noticed some minor crab grass patches in the front but continued using the current service the prior homeowner had (not Giving Tree) Summer 2019 , I decided I wanted to install irrigation due to the minimal shade and I wanted to ensure I would have zero watering issues. In July of 2019 I enlisted the Giving Tree and Installed 22 sprinkler heads and five zones in my front yard. The sprinkler install went seamless, and to date, I've had no issues with the sprinkler personnel. My yard still had the crab grass and I paid $$$ to The Giving Tree to treat my front yard, killing the crab grass, then I hired them to seed the entire yard. I paid for fall fertilization as well Spring 2020. My sprinklers we not turned in initially. I called the company to inquire. I spoke with a girl on the phone who advised me I was not listed as a customer.  Eventually after several phone calls, I spoke with the owner's wife who apologized and said, due to the pandemic, things were not going smooth. Eventually the sprinkler techs came out and turned the water on.  I paid for all my required fertilization,  which included crab grass preventer. June 2020 , the lawn was looking good. I was happy with my yard. Early July 2020 - This is when things went south. I started noticing crab grass popping up in various spots in my yard. My irrigation is set most mornings at 0430 and gets routine watering. I immediately called The Giving Tree to advise them of the issue before it got worse. I am a polite respectful person who understands things happen. I spoke to a female on the phone who advised me that the tech doing the yard will see it and remedy the issue during the next treatment. Well it was never delt with. Mid July 2020, yard is completely overgrown with crabgrass and dirt patches. still my irrigation is running almost daily. I call The Givimg Tree and spoke with the owner's wife who told me she was sending a tech out to treat it. was advised "it's a hot summer" and it "needs waterning"  I advised her I had irrigation that ran (not sure why they didn't know 🤔). I was advised that the  yard was "spot treated" where the crab grass was. Not sure what they meant by that, so I waited several days and noticed the crab grass around the curb died but the rest of my yard was still deplorable (worse than when moved in).  The good news is they put lime down and didn't have an issue charging me!! Thank God they treated my sandlot with lime!! 👍. Of course I paid for that as well. Late July 2020, I called The Giving Tree as it was still awful. I spoke with the owner's wife who was great to deal with. I sent her pictures of my yard and she apologized for everything. She sent out a tech to spray the entire yard , killing crabgrass. They ended up reseeding everything in the fall and made it right. Spring 2021, they apparently don't answer the phones anymore, and must leave a message. I call to turn sprinklers on, they do my first lawn application May 8, and turn the sprinklers on on May 28... my first lawn treatment consisted of crab grass preventer. June 9, 2021, I call to report the crab grass that is now present. Again, for some reason they don't answer calls and get the voicemail. Approx 7 hrs later they leave message telling me that they can send a tech out to treat the crab grass and it is an extra charge. I call them back, and I am angry. I leave them a message canceling their service as I am going to take my business elsewhere. June 10, 2021, I received a call back. The same girl leaves a message advising me that it was a "mistake and they will send someone out to "spot treat"... I since ceased my dealing with the deplorable service and hired a new company. Sprinkler service is great , fertilization is awful.
