  Horrible to deal with!! Richard Text me at 5:30 am to say he could not start the job after being on his schedule for weeks with no explanation!! Just disappeared. WOW! I built homes for 25 yrs and never seen a landscape company so irresponsible! Nice reply below. All lies. He never told me to sign a contract! Nor meet him to sign one! Never asked for a deposit! We asked for extra top soil because of the poor quality in the front. If that was what scared him to not show up or tell us why then we all are better off using a professional landscaper.

  It is completely unreasonable to send a text after 8pm the night before a job is to start changing the parameters of the agreed work to be done. Then to plan not to be present to sign the contract (there was no signed agreement) or the change order nor pay the required deposit yet expect the work to begin is not reasonable.

  Our builder used R&J for our front landscaping. They didn’t bother to prepare and even out the soil before laying the sod, we had several dips of six inches or more. Sod is dying in areas where there isn’t proper drainage because they didn’t fix the ground. They also laid the sod on top of bark they put around a tree, we had to rip the sod up and fix it. The plants for the flower beds were either dead or almost dead. They poked holes in the drip system instead of putting in emitters. And, the sprinklers spray wasn’t adjusted - Our sprinklers and our neighbors cover each other’s yards almost completely. On top of that, they are planting a tree in someone else’s yard today and felt that since they did our front yard that gave them the right to come back and take things out to put on another property. I caught the workers in the middle of removing things and told them to stop. They dumped everything on my flower bed, didn’t fix it, and stepped on the plants I added. They gave me lip about trespassing and removing things without permission. I am absolutely livid at the treatment of the one worker who lashed out at me. Their employer should have made sure they had the materials to finish today’s job instead of having them take it from previous jobs. ETA – My husband talked to someone in their office and the excuse was "they got the wrong address." No. I watched them working on another property, then walk onto mine to start taking things. I also confronted them. One worker was apologetic and tried to fix things, but the other was EXTREMELY rude and confrontational. He made it clear that since they put in our front yard, they could do whatever they wanted and take things and ruin property. Their office claiming it was a different situation to my husband makes my blood boil even more. There's no excuse for the behavior, stepping on and ruining my plants.

  DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. This company is doing the landscaping for our new home purchased through Architerra. Front Landscaping was included in our purchase price. Today the landscape company showed up unannounced, without notice at all to do the sprinklers and flowerbeds out front, and we weren’t home. We got home after they had put the sprinklers in and horrible rock landscaping out front and they needed to get into our garage to install the timer for the sprinklers, and they had the audacity to get an attitude with us and say ‘thanks for finally deciding to show up’ even though they showed up completely without notice. They claimed they ‘didn’t have our contact info to let us know.’ What landscape company shows up to someone’s house without their approval to start landscaping? Why couldn’t you contact the company we bought the house from and GET our contact info? I also did not want the ‘dental office’ rock in our flowerbeds, and they basically said ‘too bad’ and my fiancé is currently using their equipment to shovel the rock out of the flowerbed. I will never use this company for my own work in the future, and will never recommend them to anyone based off their professionalism. Update: We got home from grocery shopping today, two days after my initial review; and the person I assume is one of the owners of this company was doing landscaping across the street and yelled at us 'Thanks for the great review' to which we sarcastically replied 'you're welcome' and he responded 'I hope that comes back to haunt you'. Seriously? You're going to give my review some cookie cutter response about 'talking in person' and then when you are given the chance you choose to escalate the situation and even harass us? Good job at improving your 'professionalism' from our last encounter. UPDATE 2: Our new, much more professional landscape company came to install our backyard sprinklers and let us know that R&J didn’t even install the back flow tester on our existing front sprinklers, and left wires hanging all over and didn’t even use waterproof wire nuts to secure the electrical. Seriously, just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean you won’t end up paying more in the long run!

  It is in fact the builders responsibility to give contact info to us for any homes that have closed. It is rare that landscaping is done after it has closed and people have moved in and need contacted. Each new home comes with a contract that includes work to be done, a standard package. Rock, for example, cannot be left out if it was financed by the bank. That could be considered fraud. "Too bad" is not what was said. We are happy to explain things, address any concerns and answer questions in person or via our office phone or email.
