  I hired this lawn service to do my sod installation recently and had a negative experience. Looking back, there were signs that I should not have worked with them, but I had some other things come up unexpectedly and just wanted to get this done and off my mind. Mistake. When Mitch came to do the estimate, I told him I wanted Zoysia and he had never heard of it. It seems the only type of grass he knew was St. Augustine. He gave me an estimate and later had to ask me to send him a copy of it because he couldn’t find his copy. The day of the installation was a Tuesday and it was done in the afternoon. He was unable to ‘find’ most of my sprinklers even though they were visible without digging prior to installation. He went onto my neighbor’s property with the sod despite being told multiple times and acknowledging each time where my property lines were. He ran out of sod because of this and had to go buy extra at the end. He made me pay for the extra. We watered the sod immediately after it was installed. In less than 48 hours, the sod looked like it was dying even though it had been watered twice. He came over to look at it (I think this is because I had not yet paid him as he had some difficulty figuring out how to send me the bill electronically). He said something about the sod maybe being deficient in iron and that I should water heavily and it would show improvement by the next day. We poured more than 600 gallons of water into my 700 sq ft lawn that evening. Some parts looked a bit better by the next day but most of it was still bad. Friday I contacted him again about fixing the situation. He said he would contact the company he bought it from, C&R Sod, to see if they would give him a refund but he couldn’t do that until Monday since the place isn’t open on weekends. Saturday he says he will replace 30 pieces of sod the following Wednesday (coincidentally the number of pieces he made me pay extra for). On Monday I texted him to find out if he could come before then as I might want more than 30 pieces replaced and was willing to pay the difference. No response. Tuesday morning I called him and was sent to voicemail. He texted back shortly after saying he had to take his mother to an appointment and would get back to me as soon as the appointment was over that morning. I didn’t hear from him again that day. At this point I was starting to wonder if he was going to avoid me since he had been paid, so I decided to get some of the worst pieces of sod replaced by someone else. Wednesday evening he finally calls back and leaves a message saying he is still willing to replace the sod but got busy or something. I was unsure if I should let him near my lawn again. By Friday I decided to accept the pieces he offered and texted him. He said he would contact me the following week to set it up. Weeks have now passed and I haven’t heard from him. In summary: -Mitch installed bad sod -He went onto my neighbor’s property with the bad sod -He made me pay extra for his mistake -He couldn’t find my sprinklers even though they were visible before installation without digging -He claimed he wanted to help the situation but gave me the runaround and eventually disappeared -My lawn looks worse now than before when it was full of weeds because the weeds were at least green
