They have made our shaded lawn area completely bare. My neighbor helped us to reseed a year before with good results. However the preceding year, they managed to kill all the new grass as well. They made no effort to rectify the problem besides shifting the blame on the trees. Waisted quite bit of time, energy and money with the Meehan's

      Response from the owner

The shade from the trees as well as the water they require cause the lawn to thin out and become bare, especially in summer when the trees are in full leaf and the areas under the trees become dry. Bluegrass and Ryegrass require a minimum of 6 hours of full sun to grow well. Less sun and the grass will be thin. additionally, the trees suck up water robbing it from the grass plants. Adequate additional irrigation is needed to fulfill the needs of both the grass and the trees. These areas can be reseeded in spring or fall, however in summer when the trees leaf out, the lawn will again thin out. There are 3 options. 1) thin the canopy of the trees to allow more light to penetrate giving the grass plants a better chance at surviving. 2) make beds under the trees and either mulch them or plant shade and drought tolerant perennial ground covers such as Pachysandra or Myrtle. 3) (not the best option but can work) Plant with a shade mix grass seed. The lawn will still be thin but it has a better chance of survival than bluegrass. Meehan's Lawn Service nor any other company can guarantee a lawn in shade. We are hired to assist you in maintaining your lawn but we have no control over environmental factors.

I started with them 2 seasons ago when my previous company decided to shift their focused to commercial work. I asked for someone to come out to go over my concerns both seasons and they refused stating I can talk to the tech when he is on site . Poor customer service! So I canceled for the 2022 season. Today I have evidence of moles so I contacted them to make sure I got the Grub Prevention which I thought I had and they confirmed that I did get it. Well guess what they are not going to correct their poor work. Save yourself the frustration and don't use this company.

      Response from the owner

We are very sorry that you feel we did not adequately address your concerns. We inspected your lawn after you filed with the BBB and found no evidence of grubs at that time. We also left information stating that we are responsible for damage by grubs but we will not be held responsible for damage by animals. Moles eat grubs, earthworms, slugs and many other insect that live in the lawn, so having moles does not mean a grub issue. Our licensing is limited to insects and we are not licensed for vertebrate control. We suggest contacting the experts at mole control: crittercontrolcleveland.com for assistance with the mole issue. You mentioned that you asked for someone to go over your concerns both seasons, however, our call log shows only two calls from you, one regarding weeds and the other to discontinue service. No calls regarding grubs or to request consultation. We cannot resolve a problem if we do not know one exists.

We had been customers for many years. Never had a problem until this year. They completely destroyed our front lawn. Had a different service look at it and they assessed the mixture was clearly wrong for that yard. I wanted to give Meehans the chance to make it right since we had been customers for many years and they stated it was not their problem and they take no fault. The supervisor, Jim, was very rude and hung up the phone when his excuses were being proven wrong. There are a lot of reputable lawn services in the Cleveland area. I would highly recommend staying away from this one due to their poor service and lack of customer service.
