I am not sure why this guy has negative reviews. First he is a one-man shop. He does everything, so you know he must be good. Also, he's intelligent, and knows what to fix and how to avoid another costly repair. My mower got a badly bent mower blade cable. Not sure how, but Lyle diagnosed it and had me up and running not a moment too soon. See, I had waited a long time to mow, and then found the problems. The last few weeks of rain put the grass into overdrive but even on a wet day (today), as the repair was finished, I got my yard done. And it is thanks to this guy's service. Also, do you see how hard it is to get to his shop? Rochester street crews have really hurt his business. I'll always bring my Toros to this man. I suggest you all do too, and treat him as you would your neighbor. A lot of angry people on here venting. I'm curious why my interactions with him made it such a great experience unlike most other 'reviewers'.

Be warned, your small engine may or may not get serviced. On the other hand, you and your wallet will be serviced well beyond your wildest expectations. And you won't even get dinner, or satisfaction, or even a smile. Lyle is rude, ill-mannered and needlessly hostile. He'll charge you far more than you feel is justified ($220.00 to get a relatively new and well-maintained Craftsman snowblower running) and then will tack on an extra $10.00 for using your credit card. Do I sound bitter? Well you will too if you allow the lemon known as Lyle touch your equipment.

I’d give zero stars if Google would allow me to do so. Took my Toro push mower in for a tune-up because it hadn’t been used in over 5 years (went through a divorce and haven’t had a place with a yard for 5 years). But prior to this the mower was in great condition, was purchased new, and had only been used several years. Lyle says he needs 2 weeks to tune it up. I never hear from him after the two weeks. He doesn’t return my calls. Finally connect with him, and he says the mower has major problems and he still needs to order the parts. Meanwhile, my grass is knee-high. What a joke. I said don’t touch it further and I’ll pick it up. He gave it back to me in pieces and still charged me $60.00. I told him I hope the 60 is worth it to him cause I’m gonna tell at least 60 different people to steer clear of Lyle Small Engine Repair. There’s a reason his place is a dump.
