    WOW!!! Owner came out and quoted work and we received the quote within 24 hours of him being here. The team of employees arrived exactly on time with a heads up call they were on their way to us. Everyone is professional, and very friendly! The Lilly team works together like one fine tuned machine. I’d definitely have them out for future work and would recommend to anyone!

    We contracted with Lilly Landscaping to complete a spring clean-up of our yard. It was a large job and the first time we've worked with them. They were friendly, flexible and arrived on time to complete the work. We had to reschedule our appointment due to an unexpected conflict with a power washing contractor, and they easily and willingly accommodated our request. As mentioned, it was a large job and a new one for them, and they got a lot done. They put a nice edge on the beds and they did it by hand with spades. At the outset, they applied mulch at a depth and quality we'd agreed on. As the job progressed, the owner mentioned he'd underestimated the amount of mulch required. Lilly began to apply the mulch increasingly thinly and, ultimately, some areas received only a sprinkling. Faced with this issue, two approaches would've been preferred by us. (1) Lilly should have continued to apply mulch at the same depth and quality as at the outset, understanding that they might make a bit less on the job, but that they were building trust and a relationship with a new customer by honoring the quote that THEY supplied. Essentially, they'd be laying the foundation so that we would hire them in future years, and they could increase the quote the next time. (2) Lilly should have approached us with the underestimate and asked us for permission to revise it to help them lay the mulch consistently with the way they did at the outset. Of course, no one likes to be asked for additional funding once a job has started, but as mentioned, it was a large job and a new one for them. We understand that it might be difficult to gauge accurately how much mulch would be required. We wanted the job to be done well. If Lilly had approached us, we would've worked with them, but they didn't. It feels to us that they underestimated the job, then scrambled to complete it as best they could without cutting too much into their profits. We had them apply a pre-emergent with the mulch, but that doesn't work on existing weeds. Weeding was included in our quote, but we saw them do little to none of that. Within two days of job completion, we had weeds popping through the mulch and it's only increased since then. We now have them all over the yard. In addition, trimming was included in our quote and we saw them do only a tiny bit of that in the front yard. We have shrubs and plantings that were not trimmed. It's disappointing. We're not sure why they cut the job short on weeding and trimming. Perhaps it was a time issue as well as a materials one. Would we hire them again? We DID hire them in part because their quote was lower than other contractors. Perhaps we should've questioned the accuracy of their estimate of what was required. We presumed the lower quote was because they are a smaller company. It seems we made an inaccurate estimate too, because they didn't realize how much mulch they would need. Mistakes happen. When we factor in the inadequate weeding and trimming though, we most likely would not rehire nor recommend Lilly. We're sorry to say that, because they were pleasant, hardworking people, but the job was to clean up the yard and now we have a mess of weeds to deal with and not enough mulch. We really wish they would've talked to us.

    Scott is a very nice man however he was extremely hard to get ahold of. We played phone tag with him several times through out the period we hired him. Prices were fair. We had a lawn install done. The final result was disappointing. We had it put in the fall which we were told was the optimum time to do so. We watered religiously and the grass came in quick however, the majority of the grass we got was "oat grass" (so we were told). When we finally got ahold of Scott he informed us that this grass was from the hay barrels and would die off when it got colder. The problem is, this grass was EVERYWHERE. So as it died off our lawn looked worse and worse. We asked Scott (many times) if he could take a look one evening to see if what we had was normal and he refused saying he was too busy. I was frustrated as he reassured at the beginning he would take a look at any issues that we were having and overseed if necessary. We were told we would get one feritilizer application and more seed if needed. I asked that he email me when this was completed. Supposedly fertilizer was put down but there was no flag and no email. I had to email him asking him when it was completed. Unsure if more seed was ever put down. I was forced to buy bags of seed and overseed myself. Our lawn currently is a light green compared to the dark green lawns that were put in at the same time. Many other landscapers put a fertilizer down at installation and then another application after. Lilly does not and our lawn color is a result from that. I wish Scott would have came out and took a look so we could ask him questions. Although his prices are fair, we still spent a large amount of money for "oat grass" that dies off. I have since bought a lot of seed myself, which is not cheap, and spread it all over. There no mistaken, you can tell the difference between where I seeded and his seed.
