Irritated and very disappointed. I'm a firm believer that when a business tells you they're going to do a job, that they follow through with it. This an honest review of LawnStarter. A little backstory. I value my time and manage it the best I can down to the minute. With my normal media/youth work at church, running my own small business, and helping my parents finish their house in Terrell, I've tried to be wise in what I give up in order to spend quality time with my family. I love doing my own yard. It's like therapy to me! On Wednesday, I decided that was something I could give up to spend more time with my family. I did a lot of research and found a company that had great reviews on the NextDoor app and Thumbtack. So, I reached out to them and they replied within 30 minutes. I called them and spent about 20 minutes on the phone going through the jobs I needed them to do. The very first thing I asked was, "Do you guys service my address?" He told me, "Yes!" We scheduled the mowing, trimming, edging, bush trimming, weed pulling, and mulching. They even sent me a link to download an app. I was impressed! Very impressed to be honest. I started telling my friends about their customer service and how much care I received on the phone to get my needs met. I even left a review on NextDoor to get a $20 credit. I was excited! Even though I love doing my own yard, it was going to provide me with the extra time to spend with my wife and newborn daughter. That all changed when I received an email yesterday. Not a phone call but an email. This email said, "Unfortunately, the demand for lawn care service in your area is high at this time and we can’t find a crew fit for your needs." What?!? I spent 20 minutes on the phone and even verified all of this before making the arrangements necessary to have my yard taken care of? Needless to say, I'm pretty upset that a good-sized business cared more about customer acquisition than customer appreciation. On top of all that it rained so my yard sprouted a lot overnight. So, I ended my "date night" with my wife and daughter by mowing my yard. Again, I love mowing my yard but I love my family more. Pictured is my wife and daughter watching me mow instead of spending time with them. All this to say, if you are a business and you make an appointment to do a job, keep your promise. If you can't keep your promise, don't send an email and say, "...we are working hard to get more coverage in your area." when I was assured my address was covered and accounted for. If you're reading this and you're wanting to cut grass, let me know. I need to hire someone who is responsible and reliable.
