We have been using JT Turf Care for 3 years and we are extremely happy with the services and look of our entire lawn. We had significant hardscaping done this past year along with new sod because of the work done. JT Turf Care took care of the sod and blended it with our existing lawn to the point you can't tell what is new and what is existing. We will continue to work with John in the future. We highly recommend JT Turf Care for anyone who wants a nice looking property.

John was recommended to me by a large fertilizer supply company. He responded very quickly to an inquiry about my lawn with creeping bent grass. He has come to my home and we have come up with a treatment plan to fix the lawn. I have enjoyed working with him and he is very knowledgeable.

We had a new law installed last fall and we’re instructed to have the lawn professionally maintained. Based on reviews we select JT Turf care. We are very disappointed with the appearance of our lawn. Our lawn which was lush in the Spring, after three application, it is very thin and some areas are dead. We spoke with John about possible reasons and his thought were that maybe the contractor used an annual seed and the other possibility was lawn fungus. He didn’t see fungus and the we confirmed with the contractor that the grass seed that was planted in the fall was blue grass and a blend of fescues, both perennials. I’ve checked the soil pH (6.5 to 7) and attended a lawn seminar and took pictures with me of the lawn and the professional said it looked like overfertilization which John dismisses. He commented that “he only completed three treatments” and suggested that we continue with him because in the fall is, ”where you really begin to see improvements in the lawn with aeration and seeding”. Our lawn was seeded and aerated last year when it was installed. I should not have to do it again. He promises to stand behind his work 100%. I’m not sure what that means because our lawn is in terrible shape and he has no idea what the problem is. Two additional reasons I would not recommend JT Turf. John reply suggest that the only reason I would not recommend his services is because of the appearance of the lawn. More to the point is my lack of confidence in his ability to solve the problem. Two other reasons also exist: 1. Our planting areas have many tender perennials. The overspray from the weed killer applied to the lawn by John got onto these plants and killed them. 2. Having an extremely wet spring, John’s machine got struck in a particularly wet area. I happened by at that moment and saw him spinning his wheels trying to get out of that area. A large swath of lawn was torn up. No apologies or offers to reseed the areas. I guess I will have to wait for the fall when he aerates and reseeds.
Response from the owner
Bernie wants to point all blame on me for the condition of his lawn regardless of the other environmental conditions that existed this season. I have spent a lot of time revisiting the property, explaining possibilities to his wife and writing emails to Bernie. Bernie went to a seminar and showed pics of his lawn to a professional where it was able to be determined that the lawn was over fertilized. First of all it is impossible to tell from after pics what the cause of the issue is and the "professional" told him it was over fertilization with liquid fertilizer which I have never used on any customer's property. I use slow release granular fertilizers. My equipment is calibrated by multiple settings and has speed monitored by GPS. I used the same fertilizers on Bernie's lawn as I do on all the other lawns that I seeded last Fall. Somehow all of the other lawns look great but Bernie's is unsatisfactory. Bernie has a heavily wooded lot and had some trees cleared and regrading done last year. Sure the grass that I didn't plant came in well last Fall because there were no leaves on the trees and the lawn received the proper amount of light to prosper. The same conditions existed this Spring with plenty of light due to no leaves on the trees. The three treatments I did on Bernie's property were not going to make or break his lawn and doubtfully had to do with the decline of his lawn this season. It takes more than seeding one time to achieve a nice lawn and Fall is the time when huge progress can be made. Bernie is correct in that I told him that with core aerating and seeding again this Fall he would see great results. Without being given the chance there is not much else I can do for him. A nice lawn takes time, patience and the right environmental conditions. All of these things were clearly explained to Bernie. Good luck Bernie!
