We've had the pleasure of experiencing many of Indigenous Ingenuities' services including landscape design and maintenance, carpentry and stone masonry. They've done a beautiful job of installing a native plant garden, an expertly constructed wooden deck, and various pathways crafted with gorgeous pieces of local stone. Their staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and motivated. And as an unexpected extra, we've learned a lot with them about sustainability, ecological habitats and stewarding the land we live on! We expect to have a long term relationship with the company.

We are incredibly happy with the landscaping design and installation services provided by Indigenous Ingenuities. The beds are perfect and the plants so far are very nicely placed. We love the cobble curve and the stones in front and back. Great design ideas that solve problems and look good doing it. The installation crew was amazing, with incredible work ethic and attention to detail. We can only imagine the next phases! Thanks to Carl, Michael and the entire team.

I would avoid this business at all costs. Unfortunately, we retained this company to perform landscaping services as well as grass-cutting services, but they failed to do both in a sufficient manner. To say they are unreliable and dishonest is an understatement. According to our Ring camera records, they have charged us for time they did not work (e.g., on one occasion they said they were at our home for three hours, but our Ring camera shows their truck pulling up and away - they were there for less than two hours). This is not the only instance of dishonesty. In addition to integrity issues, they are also incompetent. They could seem to comprehend that we wanted our grass cut before the weekend. No one at the company seemed capable of looking at the weather and determining the proper day to get someone to come over to cut our lawn. In addition, the services that they did perform were sloppy. We should have listened to several of our neighbors who said that this business is “awful” and who did not renew their grass-cutting services due to lack of care and reliability. I really do not understand all the positive reviews on here. They must be given by family and friends who do not actually use their services. If I could give zero stars I would.

I first want to apologize that you feel this way. It is obviously not my goal as a business owner to leave anyone feeling this way. As a young and growing business (please see more about us at www.ind-ing.com), we certainly are not immune to making mistakes. However, I was disappointed to see some of the things you wrote about us. They felt unfair and designed to hurt. You are, of course, entitled to feel any way you would like about us, but there are some things you said that I feel strongly are a result of miscommunication and/or misunderstanding. You used some harsh language against my company such as ‘dishonest’ ‘incompetent’ and ‘awful’. Please allow me to address these individually. I understand you believe we did not bill honestly, but as we addressed in our response to this question when you brought it up, we tried to explain that billable time does not start when we arrive at your house or end when we leave. There is significant work that goes into preparing for jobs before and after arriving. There could be a chance that the billing wasn’t otherwise exact, as we rely on our crew leaders to report on their time, and I would have been happy to try and work through that with you if it were the case. I think calling us dishonest is not a fair accusation without making an effort for both parties to work through the potential discrepancy. You also claimed this was not the only instance of dishonesty. If you would be kind enough to let me know what other instances there were it would be greatly appreciated, so that I might be able to explain or correct it if indeed there was a mistake on our end. As far as being incompetent, I cannot comment on the particulars of your situation, as I was not personally involved in your projects. I do apologize that my crew failed to perform to your expectation. However, to make such a sweeping statement about my entire multidisciplinary company and it’s dedicated and experienced workers on a public platform does feel unfair. We have a very talented and skilled workforce that’s knowledgeable in many fields, but sometimes mistakes do happen. When they do, we pride ourselves in trying our best to make things right. I do not feel we were given very much of a chance to do this before you left us a poor review. Regarding the mowing on Friday or dealing with weather, that came across as a hurtful statement, especially since we also tried to address the subject in our recent email. As we mentioned, we cannot mow everyone's lawn on a Friday. Everyone wants that, which would mean we would have to employ extra people and buy extra equipment to only mow on Fridays, and then have no work for them any other day of the week. It just isn’t possible, and I am sorry if this wasn’t made more clear. Also, using someone else’s words against us - an unidentified neighbor who allegedly called us awful - feels unfair. We started our electric lawn mowing service as part of our larger landscape maintenance group, 3 years ago, and have grown it from 5 lawns to over 20, while loosing only one client that I can recall. I am not doubting that a neighbor may have said this to you, but we have retained nearly 100% of our clients, so to read this comment feels like you are really trying to damage my company without making an effort to really know more about us and all we do. Lastly, the 13 other reviews on google are in fact clients of ours. Not a single one is a family member, some are or have become friends, all of which we actually did work for. To make such a statement without having any way of knowing this, also felt intended to damage our reputation, not because it was based in truth, but rather in anger. I hope that it is clear that I am not trying to claim that we did not make mistakes and that you may not have a reason to be upset. I just wish you would have responded to our recent email, so that we could have continued to work through it.
