We called Hillside for a quote to install a walkway in our front yard and a retaining wall in the back and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Steve was friendly, explained the numerous options and even dropped off sample pavers for us to see. When the time came to get the project started, John and his team were fantastic. The planning and detail that went into the installation really shows in a beautiful finished product. Turned out better than we had envisioned, thanks Hillside.

Hillside Landscaping was presented with a challenging job at our house. There are two well established birch trees on either end of the planting area, they are beautiful but some of their roots are exposed. Old bushes and other growth needed to be removed so that new bushes could be planted. Hillside was very helpful in choosing plants that could survive under these conditions.  The crew was efficient, courteous, and helpful in answering questions. Also appreciated is the open dialogue that does not end with the completion of the job. Hillside has nourished our mowed lawn areas for several years with great results that include deepening our topsoil so we asked them to advise us on the next phase of our pollinator meadow initiative, and to till the area and seed and plant it for us. Steve took time to walk our land with us and think out which meadow mixes and wild flowers would be most natural and successful under the various conditions of sun vs shade and dry vs wet, including working with an intermittent stream. He patiently reviewed many alternative plants with us. His planting scheduling accommodated our schedules as well as the seasonal needs of our honeybees. Now another quarter acre of our land will support our pollinator partners and serve the Earth, and please the human eye too. I hired Steve Walowski & Hillside Landscaping to apply his Organic Lawn Care program to my parents yard in West Hartford, CT. Due to living out of state now, it was important for me to find someone I could trust with my parents... Steve and HLC team were always helpful and hardworking yet did careful and efficient work! Steve and his crew are awesome- we did the organic lawn program and after two years I can say our lawn is so thick, we hardly have any weeds coming up- and no harsh chemicals were needed. After finding out they do hardscapes as well, we had them do our patio. We get so many compliments on the work and the guys were so nice. Their quality and customer service is top of the line. Highly recommend!!!

We just had Techo Bloc pavers put in to replace a cement walkway and entrance steps by Steve and John at Hillside. They did a great job! Mr. Wolowsky listened carefully to what we wanted in giving his original price estimate, and his partner John was meticulous in its execution. This company is Techo Bloc certified, which in this instance means they are not going to cut corners in preparing the site and finishing the job on time and as promised. I watched them work and they are craftsmen, clearly proud of their work. It shows!
