I had some old, overgrown decorative trees on my property, and one nice big maple that had grown out of control and was near my electric drop. I called them and got on the list, understanding that it would be a while. About the time when they said they would be available they called and arranged to come out, a few hours later they arrived and set right to work. The trees that had to go came down quickly and cleanly with no damage to anything. Then they started in trimming and thinning the maple tree. That took the most time but I am really happy with how it turned out, I have hopes that next summer it will be really pretty and symmetrical then it fills in. They ground the stumps, removed the trash and were finished by the end of the day. I consider the price fair for quality work. (Don't tell them but it was a little less than I expected before I called them.) The crew was courteous, I mostly stayed out of the way, but when I did go out to see how things were going someone always immediately came up to me to see if I had any concerns or questions or wanted them do do anything in particular. All of the trucks and equipment seemed well kept up and in good working order, no snags, and nothing that gave me any concerns for the safety of the guys working on my trees. I expect to have them back next year for some landscaping and further improvements to the yard. Would recommend without reservation.

This company was contracted by AES to trim trees near the power lines in my backyard. I spoke to the supervisor the morning they started & advised I only wanted the mimimum15 feet required by AES cut from my tree. I repeated myself at least 10 times during our conversation. Instead they completely butchered my 30 yr old tree & numerous other limbs from the other trees no where near the power lines. They cut 6 in diameter limbs 5 feet off the ground. Power lines aren't 5 feet off the ground! One side of the large tree is completely gone! The tree is so off balance that when we get a hard storm it will most likely fall into my house. When I got home from work I called for an explanation of why they didnt follow my 15 feet instruction & his response was "oh I thought the tree was dead so I cut more limbs off". (It is clearly not dead with green leaves all over). This company is completely unprofessional & disrespectful to peoples's property. Will be contacting AES to complain as well.

WARNING Do not let these fools near your trees! They butcher them. They are extremely rude and do not work with the customers. Lies, yelling, and horrible attitudes. Worst trimming experience of my life! Ruined my tree, Then they left ALL the huge branches laying in my yard and refused to pick up. Fitzwater rep, Jay, hung up on my twice when I called! Most unprofessional business practices.
Response from the owner
Fitzwater Tree and Lawn Care has been in business since 1946 and has a long-standing tradition of providing kind and impeccable customer service. One of our many divisions is providing contracting services for electrical utilities. In saying that, we have to follow their guidelines and standards of trimming trees that have intruded their right-of-way. Our company is hired to perform a specific job and only follow the guidelines set by the utility company. The utility is bound to provide for safe and reliable service to the customer. The customer is bound by the tariff in order for the utility company to provide service. The tariff allows the utility company access to any of their equipment and the right to maintain it. There are many different safety standards that OSHA requires in the work place, and unless you deal with them every day as I do it is very hard to determine what a proper standard is and what isn’t. We follow several standards required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulation 1910.269 (29 Code of Federal Regulations Part 1910) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards Z133.1 and A300. Additional safety requirements are also required by our Customer, as well as Fitzwater standards. Our crews have evaluations regularly and are monitored on a regular basis. We provide this service to help keep the electrical power on to the citizens of the Greater Miami Valley. Unfortunately for some this means that we are required to trim and in some cases remove trees that are in yards. Please keep in mind we only trim what is necessary or required.
