Update: I reached out to Mark of Bansfield lawn and he says he'll take care of the nutsedge in my beds and that the lawn grass will need another 2-3 months to properly settle and become the lush carpet I was promised. I'm going to bump up my review from a 1 to a 3 due to his excellent customer service. I'll update this in June '22 with a status. I am trusting his word for now and really hope that it pulls together! --- previous review --- 1 star Nearly $12k later and I have 2.5k sqft of rough looking lawn and grass in my flower beds (see pictures).... I was told they would do a meticulous job of leveling my lawn and making it look good.... I was lied to. Lawn and existing beds torn up in late January. Sod went down late Feb of 2022, flower beds went in early March 2022. I've let the lawn "settle" for a month and it still looks uneven and rough. During the time between getting my flower beds prepared and getting it installed was a month. During that month, grass sprouted. I informed them it was happening a week before they were set to do the bed work...they just buried the grass.... I gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe I don't know anything, but sure as the sun rises grass came up through. I called about it, they said they'd send someone. Day came and went and I didn't see anyone. 2 days later grass is still growing. I hit it with my own killer. 2 days after my own, you can see where I hit and where I didn't (see picture). I don't think anyone came that day. I'm friends with my neighbors and I have guests over on a regular basis, they all know how much I paid and they all are surprised (in a bad way) at how it looks. I even got the high quality Empire Zoysha hoping I would get extra tlc and a killer carpet lawn, but nah (see pictures, keep in mind this is after a month of settling in). They said I needed to sign off on the work, I asked about how rough it looks they said it would "settle", so I signed. Boy, I was dumb.... I feel robbed.

Fantastic landscaping job from Banfield’s! Over 7k sf of zoysia, jumbo rocks, dirt and soil. Why did we use Banfield’s? The communication was easy and thorough. It wasn’t just about throwing sod down, it was about ensuring we had the proper foundation of dirt/soil to place sod on. Not to mention the extremely horrible condition our backyard and front yard was in from erosion due to not having any grass for months. We had rivers and zero grading after all the rain. Also,we didn’t have to remove any of my fence for their equipment to get into the backyard. That was also a plus! Thank you Mark, Landon and your team!

If a negative rating was available, that is what I would choose for this company. Banfield Lawncare has been treating our yard and it has not been the same since they started. 2 Huge dead patches in the back yard that are both literally down to the dirt and need sod, dead patches throughout the yard, and even weeds. First it was blamed on dog urine. Then poor drainage. Now they are saying we laid a huge tarp on the grass and that’s what caused the damage. We just want them to fix the problem they created, as any business should. Instead, we are getting nothing but excuses. We should not be financially responsible to have new sod laid when we were paying them to make our yard beautiful….not kill it. Horrible experience!
Response from the owner
Mr. Robinson has centipede decline in his yard. Centipede decline is common in this area and there is no preventative or cure for it. Along with centipede decline he has a low area in his backyard that holds water. Also, there's no gutters or downspouts on the house which is damaging the grass. Mr. Robinson does not have these issues in his front yard, which we treated also. Although centipede decline is not our fault we did offer Mr. Robinson some free sod to help him out. We also gave Mr. Robinson free zoysia sod last year, which is still healthy. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do for centipede decline is to replace it with a better turf.
