    So, I scheduled grass installation approximately 6-8 weeks in advance and was told i need to pay $500 to "hold" the date. I then paid with my credit card. I had a change of heart, so I reached out to cancel the service and was given the run around. First, the system was down. Then the owner "Matt" needed to approve the refund. To make a long story short, I still do not have my refund. I will be seeking legal advice because I have yet to receive my refund for a service that was canceled. BTW, the receipt does NOT specify a time-frame for cancellation. Buyer beware!!! P.s. I'm very curious if they will respond to this considering they have not contacted me once. I did all of the calling. UPDATE: 10-6-2021 Mr. Keener, You are flat out being dishonest right now. We paid you in June to "save the date". We made the request to not do business with your company in early July. You have not at any point refunded my money to my CC, not in July, August, September or October. My CC company is coming after you thankfully, and THEY credited my stolen money that you still have in your pocket. You have NOT refunded anything and you are lying about having refunded our money. My wife calling you has nothing to with with anything. It only clarifies that we chose to NOT do business with you. Yes, we asked to see other work that you have done and that is when we decided to NOT use you!! Furthermore, we did not "run" out of funds my thieving friend, we simply did not want to do business with you. You know the area we live in, does it appear that we are "running out of funds"?? And lastly, saying i am not a victim is confusing! Are you the one accusing ME of stealing YOUR money?? I accused you and now YOU are victim blaming. Or, maybe you refunded someone else and got it mixed up with me. Thanks for responding though, it took awhile but you did! Sincerely,

    Marlon this $500 was returned back to your account in full on 8-12-21 by our credit card company. Prior even to you making this review. After signing up and charging your deposit to a card we were latter asked for references in your neighborhood we provided three to four other lawns within your same development where we had done full installs --to include their lawns. Weeks later we received a call from your wife saying she needed to cancel or put off the lawn until later next year. The question our office staff had for myself the owner was how to refund your CC when we are charged a percentage per transaction. The process of taking your deposit and our CC company refunding it actually cost us $50+ for your deciding you had run out of funds or needed to table the lawn until a later date. You are not the victim in this scenario...and your money was in fact refunded in full and cost us money to do so.

    Do NOT use this company. They take a substantial down payment to “hold” your date. They do NOT show up on the date - many excuses given. When the work was finally done (over a month beyond schedule), the grass did not germinate. We watered. Only weeds came up. After 10 days Matt came to collect final payment, he was shown the non-growing lawn. His response was, “these things take time.” Grass germinates in roughly 10 days. He said he would be back with fertilizer. He never showed up. My husband called and emailed. He never responded. I finally said I would call my attorney. He responded but told me to go elsewhere. Matt - this company - does NOT honor his commitments.

    Jayne--We Do Not Negotiate With Terrorists... We didn't first know who you are--As we have never spoken to you or met you ever. The text message you "sent" was never received -- as it was not sent to any type of cell phone. It was sent to our main office/landline phone and thus never received. So quite literally the first message from you was yesterday "When will you be back to fix my grass that never came in ? And what did come in is weeds." From a name we did not recognize initially. The job was indeed completed --and was arranged with your husband as a one time repair job to your lawn in damaged areas around the house. The job was installed as proposed. We used every bit of soil proposed --planted premium seed, fertilized and strawed exactly the same way we plant other lawns that are thriving in the area for which we could point you to. After it was installed we made several attempts to get payment for the job. After attempting contact multiple times, it was eventually explained by Ed that he had been out of the country (perhaps in Belgium then as you are now) and thus unreachable for the extended period we had tried to reach him....but now weeks later tracking him down, he had concerns about the lawn he was still needing to pay for. (who leaves the country without paying their contractors?) The lawn is a living thing. It is a process. It requires water, especially after planting and can take up to a year to get established. If a lawn sprouts/germinates and receives no water, it will die. It's the main determining factor in whether a lawn lives or not. I can tell you we planted the lawn correctly when we walked away from it. Our initial suggestion was- to be helpful-- we were going to take a look at it to see what we might do to help you with whatever problems you are having with it now or what type of lawn care program/attention it might need. Upon receipt of these last couple emails, specifically one threatening some ill conceived legal action, I would just as soon say find another provider for your landscaping needs.     Google wouldn't let me write a new review, only update the old. This is 8/21/20, had A Keener Landscape and Design do some work for me the third time, this time building a stone stairway down a steep hill and landscaping with new beds around those stairs and the back of my house. Again, very happy with the results. 3 for 3 times a satisfied customer. We're getting lots of compliments on how it looks. I'll also say that Mat's crew was very polite and professional, and Matt followed through on everything he said he'd do. I've recommended the company several times and will continue to do so! This is from several years ago, first time we worked with A Keener: Matt and crew did a finish grade, built flower beds, and did a seed and staw new lawn installation at my newly constructed home. They did a great job. I did exactly what Matt said in terms of watering and the lawn came in really well. Lots of people have remarked on how good it looked for a new lawn. We had gotten several estimates for the job and the price was all about the same, but Matt's proposal was more for the money. They followed up and made sure things were growing after the job-something no one else was going to do. We're looking forward to working with them again when we finish the landscaping this spring. Highly recommend this company!
